Sheriff’s Boat Crew

The Sheriff’s Boat Crew was established in 2023 and is responsible for the operation of Sheriff’s Boat 1, a 33’ SAFEBOAT powered by triple Mercury outboard engines. The Sheriff’s Office has primary jurisdiction in the waters along Ventura County’s 43 miles of coastline.  The purpose of the Boat Crew is to protect the lives and property of persons on the waterways within the Sheriff’s jurisdiction through enforcement and education. In addition to protecting life and property, the Boat Crew investigates criminal activity, conducts maritime enforcement, and can participate in search and rescue operations. Boat Crew members receive extensive training in maritime enforcement and boat operations for this specialized collateral assignment. Boat 1 enables the Sheriff’s Office to support other local, state, and Federal agencies effectively in their maritime patrols or search and rescue operations.
