Camarillo – Fraud/Forgery Arrests and Weapons Seized

Narrative:
During the last three months, the Camarillo Investigations Bureau has been conducting an investigation of Bijan Hooshyar involving check fraud and forgery. Hooshyar stole checks from a victim in the city of Camarillo and deposited those checks into his own bank account. Hooshyar is also a suspect in other similar cases within Ventura County.
On 1/30/2019, Camarillo Investigators completed the investigation into Hooshyar and a search warrant was conducted at Hooshyar’s residence in the city of Newbury Park. During the search warrant, detectives located multiple unregistered assault rifles, AR-15 rifle type manufacturing tools and equipment, over a thousand rounds of live ammunition, AR-15 rifle style parts and accessories, several high capacity rifle and handgun magazines, a credit card scanning and re-coding device, several hundred dollars in counterfeit US currency, and tools commonly used to burglarize vehicles. There was also evidence located inside Hooshyar’s vehicle indicating he has been carrying a loaded firearm on his person when he is out in public.
Based on the results of the investigation, Hooshyar was arrested and booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for the following California Penal Code violations:
470(d) PC – Forgery
476 PC – Passing forged checks
30600(a) PC – Manufacturing assault weapons
30605(a) PC – Possession of assault weapons
32310(a) PC – Possession of high capacity magazines
496(a) PC – Possession of stolen property
466 PC – Possession of burglary tools
502.6(a) PC – Possession of a credit card scanning or re-coding device

Hooshyar is currently in custody pending trial with a bail set at $500,000.00.
