Narrative: | |||||||||||||
On October 19, 2018 several members of a small nonprofit company in the City of Camarillo reported their volunteer accountant, (S) Mandi Neece, embezzled money from the company account.
During a two month long investigation by the Camarillo Investigations Bureau, it was determined Neece used her position at the nonprofit company to write checks in her name and deposit them into her personal bank account. From April 2018, to October 2018, Neece embezzled nearly $63,000.00 from the nonprofit account which left the company with a negative balance in their bank account. Neece used the money from the nonprofit company to purchase items such as airline tickets, hotel stays, Dodger game tickets, concert tickets, and many other items. By the time the members of the nonprofit company reported the embezzlement, Neece had spent all of the money. On December 21, 2018, detectives from the Camarillo Police Department arrested Neece, who was taken into custody without incident. Neece was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail and is being held on a $10,000.00 bail. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank members of the public for their on-going support and due diligence in providing information to assist our agency in solving crime. We are better at what we do because of our community partnerships.
