On June 9, 2022, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit (PCU) concluded an investigation into a fatal drug overdose in the city of Thousand Oaks. Two search warrants were served in Los Angeles County which resulted in the arrests of David Smith and Adrian Alonso, who were wanted in connection with their sale of fentanyl to the victim which caused their death.
