Fillmore – Tobacco Retailer Compliance Check

On June 15, 2022, the Fillmore Department conducted a tobacco compliance check in the city of Fillmore and Piru areas.  The compliance checks were conducted at 7 locations by utilizing an underage decoy to attempt to purchase tobacco products from the businesses.  The goal of this operation is to prevent the sale of tobacco products to underage individuals and to ensure that the businesses are following the California State Tobacco Laws.    All 7 of the businesses checked were in [...]

Thousand Oaks – Drug and Firearm Arrest Related to Fatal Overdose Investigation

On June 14, 2022, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit (PCU) concluded an investigation into a fatal drug overdose in the city of Thousand Oaks. On June 9, 2022, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit (PCU) concluded an investigation into a fatal drug overdose in the city of Thousand Oaks. Fillmore – Update to Missing Elderly Subject

Update: The Sheriff’s Office thanks the community for their assistance. The subject was located in good health. On 6/9/22, at 0500 hours, 91 year old Carlos Murrieta left on foot from the Fillmore assisted living facility where he lives. Murrieta suffers from Dementia and was walking with a limp. He was last seen wearing a Beige baseball style cap, a navy blue long sleeved shirt and gray sweatpants. If located, please contact the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office at 805-654-9511
